C语言对unicode的支持情况如何

我只知道string一类的函数一碰到unicode就马上歇菜了。。有没有什么unicode相关的函数啊

但是gcc一类的貌似就不行了吧。。

也就是说如果要一段代码移植成为unicode的话那么。。就要把所有的字符串操作函数全部换掉是吗。。。

自己写太麻烦了。。
就像写一个printf就不是一天两天的事情了。。。
